Author and Creative Content Editor

We are a small team of creative people who manage 2 great online retail brands. We’re not an average business and we don’t want to be. We’re young, vibrant, creative and fun! We’re looking for an Author and Creative Content Editor to join our team in our studio in Leith, Edinburgh.

Responsibilities of the role


  • Writing content to be used on our websites, in emails, in print catalogues and sales literature including product copy, catalogues copy and sales literature
  • Researching and writing product listings, blog posts, social media posts and newsletter content
  • Creating inviting website content to attract consumers and improve SEO

Creative Content

  • Generate and develop creative ideas for literary material
  • Writing copy for use across social media channels

Creator and Editor

  • Select material for publication, check style, grammar and accuracy of content, arrange for any necessary revisions for online and printed materials
  • Translating content to be suitable for the North American market


Skill, Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience and knowledge in copy for traditional Scottish Highland Dress accessories including but not limited to sporrans, sgian dubhs, kilt pins, plaid brooches, hose, flashes
  • Experience in researching and writing copy for the fashion and homewares markets, including woollen goods and cashmere market
  • Experience in researching and writing copy for a lifestyle, trend-led brand
  • Experience and knowledge in writing copy for marketing materials for trade shows and fairs
  • Experience producing copy with accompanying branding guidelines in brand voice
  • Experience in market research and producing copy that adapts to trends in UK and USA market
  • Experience translating British English to American English
  • Experience in creating written copy for newsletters resulting in high open and click through rates
  • Great copywriting and verbal communication skills and ability to adapt to our brand’s voices
  • Experience in working across two different brands simultaneously
  • Knowledge and understanding of all social media platforms and current trends
  • Excellent eye for detail with strong typography and layout skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, managing projects in line with changing business priorities
  • Good team work and willingness to help others
  • Highly competent IT skills
  • The ability to think both creatively and strategically
  • An editorial mindset
  • Computer literate in MS Office: Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with WordPress, Shopify and MailChimp
  • Degree in English Literature preferred

Salary: £15,000-25,000
